How to keep mosquitoes away from you

  • Physically kill them
  • Use chemical mosquito repellent spray
  • Use oil-based repellent / lotion
  • Wear loose full-coverage clothing
  • Use mosquito nets at night
  • Use insect screens on any openings

Keep mosquitoes away from your property

  • Burn citronella candles
  • Plant a citronella plant in pot on porch
  • Burn essential oils such as lemon, eucalyptus, lavender, catnip
  • Put out dishes of soapy water
  • Use lights that do not attract mosquitoes such as yellow LED’s, bug lights, sodium lamps
  • Use mosquito net screens around outside entertainment areas and any home openings (windows, doors)
  • Plant garlic, basil, citronella and lavender
  • Use mosquito traps
  • Get rid of mosquito breeding places
    • Get rid of any stagnant water on the property such as in old tyres, unfiltered ponds, flower pot holders, dirty gutters, etc.
    • If there is water standing outside your property, contact the Municipality to fix leaks and remove the standing water.
